The chat assistant

The "Ask a tax question" assistant on our website runs in your browser and answers from a fixed set of information. Your chat messages are not sent to us or stored by us. To contact a specialist, use the consultation form or email us.

How we use your information

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
• To provide the services you engage us for, including preparing and filing returns.
• To send reminders and updates related to your engagement, such as filing deadlines.
• To protect our website from spam and abuse.

Service providers

We share information only with providers that help us run our business, such as email and file-sharing services, accounting and tax software, website hosting, Web3Forms, which delivers the requests you send through our contact form to our inbox, and Cloudflare Turnstile, which helps protect our contact form from spam.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website, and Google Ads and the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) to measure whether our ads lead to enquiries and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. These tools use cookies and similar technologies and may collect information such as the pages you visit, the device and browser you use, and your approximate location. They do not receive the contents of the messages you send us.

You can accept or decline these cookies in the banner shown on our website, and change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are not tracked until they accept. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Tax return information

Information used to prepare tax returns is handled under the confidentiality rules that apply to tax return preparers, including IRC Section 7216. We only use or disclose it to provide our services, as required by law, or with your written consent.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, limit access to the people who need it, and follow the data protection practices the IRS expects of tax professionals. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

How long we keep information

We keep enquiry information for as long as needed to respond and follow up. We keep client records for as long as required by law and professional standards, then delete or securely dispose of them.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop sending you non-essential emails, by writing to info@shapeaccounting.com. We may need to keep some records to meet legal obligations.
